Inktober (2019) OC-tober R.A.D.D. Roach Character Collection

Since it's October, I thought it might be a good time to show what I did for last year's Inktober. I'm not sure how much I can participate in art challenges this time around, as I have a lot on my schedule, and doing this last year actually did mess with my ability to deliver on tasks at that time.

Anyway, I have an idea about a cockroach-themed mutant lady named Fallout, and her various adventures in a dystopian / post-apocalyptic world inhabited by all sorts of strange mutants and monsters. I have posted a lot of art of Fallout herself before (though I need to make a post here on Artstation more proper at some point) but didn't show that many of the other characters. The style is a bit more exaggerated/cartoony than my default, but I guess that was part of the fun. At the very least, it's a catalogue of some of my stylings and character designs.

A general disclaimer, not all of the characters are locked down in design, function, or name. So, despite showing up here, they may actually not end up in the final story.

01: Fallout
The hard-headed and cocky mutant roach heroine.

02: Blackbody
Fallout's friend / partner / sidekick.
Friendlier and diplomatic in contrast to Fallout. However, her past is still a mystery. She has the ability to absorb heat and energy, but still yet to master releasing it. Various groups are after her.

03: Tiger
Tough but kind, surfing on the tooth of a massive monster, the shark girl mutant, Tiger.

04: Remone
A moth mutant who finds himself fascinated by Fallout. He's determined to convince this cockroach of the dark to become enamored with the light just as he has, and plans to use his abilities and anything else to see that happen.

The fair Remone.
He doesn't have wings anymore, but the coat is made from the remains of them, and he has a hypnotic dust ability. Designed by the fashionable Arinana Piehl. He is now indebted to her, and calls her "nana."

05: Saul, 'Chell, and Marcus.
Human friends of Fallout.
Saul Trifol. morose/deadpan/tired, but is friends with Fallout, despite her shortcomings.
Michelle "Chell" Casing. generally annoyed by Fallout's troublemaking.
Marcus Mann. Leader of the group.

06: Nice
A friend for Fallout, the giant isopod, Nice. I also just wanted to put a cute isopod into the story somehow.

07: Arinana Piehl
Fruit fashionista, reconstructed Remone's broken wings into his coat She has other ridiculous looking mutant cronies under her command. The tiny theiving Lady Buglar, elegant but violent Walk, and the massive and hairy Moousse.

08: Jewel
Part of "Extermine-8" a group of 8 predatory arthropod mutants, hired bounty hunters.
Was hunting Fallout before the assignment was given to all 8 members, she's particularly obsessed with succeeding.
Based on the emerald cockroach wasp.

09: Remnant
Extermin-8 member. Assassin bug. Skilled hunter, tending to use a specialized sniper rifle which can fire either regular rounds, or special acid shot. Good at camouflage, wearing debris to blend in. Tends to work alone and is rather reclusive.

10: Tamalus
Extermin-8 member.
Scorpion. A tough warrior with deadly venom as well as poisoned blades. Drew Fallout in there for scale as well. Some mutants are huge (such as Moousse earlier as well)

11: Orchid
The mantis, not the flower lol. She's a skilled and fearless martial artist and member of the Extermin-8.

12: BLYNDXYDE
The fastest member of the Extermin-8, & member of Team F.A.S.T. (Fast And Strong Team). Tiger beetle, the fastest animal on the planet (in bodylengths)
So fast, he goes temporarily blind and practically teleports.

13: Century Egg.
The centipede of the Extermin-8. Normally a compact shape, she can extend to her body (the background image is also her). She's tough and crude, with a dark and sarcastic, sadistic sense of humor.

14: Vespa Rider
The most literal name possible, Vespa Rider! He rides a vespa and is one! Japanese giant hornet. That's no mask! The most heroic of the Extermin-8. Yet, he works for an immoral client. Does see Fallout as a danger and a criminal.

15: Dreamweaver
The creeper (crawly) of the Extermin-8. Sleazy spider. He'll make her dreams... come true! Traps target in a sort of dream-state once they are caught in his web, with his esper abilities.

16: Giantom
Thomas Earth works for Dreamweaver. Human-sized diatom structure. Rock-like body, covered in an abrasive dust. His clothing is powdered too, contact can cause injury. Plus, his arm appendages can shotgun blast the dust. He doesn't talk much.

17: J.J. Flash
J.J. Flash! It's a gas... themed mutant, and the second henchmen/assistant to Dreamweaver. Always in some suit full of gas, what does his body actually look like?

18: Talon,
The leader of a group of female mercenaries known as the Fem 4orce (not to be confused with the comic, and there's technically 5 members lol). She is dinosaur/dragon/reptile themed. Can use her detached tail like a sword/club.

19: Punksure
The confident ruffian, but is she just full of hot air, or will she knock the wind out of ya?

Has multiple extra lung-like air sacs and tubes/spiracles allowing her to rapidly intake way more oxygen and hold air in. Tall but lightweight.

20: Keroma
The stealthy member of Talon's Fem 4orce-

Keroma [kero x chroma(tosphere)] She has the ability to change the color of her skin / invisibility, in addition to frog agility and kicks.

21: Secretery
(secrete x secretary). This oozefice lady manages Intel and communication. How'd she end up getting involved with these crazy ladies?
Cheerful and optimistic and wanting to help. Collects ancient relics too, like the Baybeeniez.

22: Pho Ni and Balo Ni
Here are the two great Ni brothers, Pho Ni and Balo Ni.

The kind of obstacles Fallout and Blackbody might run into during their adventures. Plus more dumb wordplay / puns lol

23: Eyegrr!
Risin' up!

Not to be confused with Tiger, the shark lady lol.

24: Magnotaur!
Actually, sketches of this guy exist in From Scratch 1, though his design is slightly updated here. Can magnetize his body, and those orbs of compacted iron filings as well.

25: OVERBYGHT.
'NUFF SAID

26: Loca
Loca, grasshopper mutant. Good kicks and jumps, a bit dumb but means well. Gets crazy if she's confined to small space / rubbing on legs too much.

27: Crossfire
Crossfire, loud and hot-headed flame mutant from the Black Torch comic. While could be considered a pilot, elements from it would still be present in the planned story. I figure it'd be good to show him again !

28: Hard-ON
Comrade of Crossfire, has organic armor that is hard and he puts it on! Pretty straight forward name, right? owo

29: Sasscrush
Not content just to sasquatch, but to CRUSH. Not only the foot of the gang, but the brains too. Leads Crossfire, Hardon & others for his Black Torch plan, crushing souls that get in his way.

30: Maid Hand- Made, Dex, Nail Biter, Ringer, Pinkiri
These are a group of maid mutants that Fallout and Blackbody run into. They are known as The Maid Hand, hand made maids made from the left hand of an unseen master whom they serve.

31: Fallout and Blackbody all maid up! And Nice!

Fallout probably doesn't make for a very good maid, in terms of doing the job lol.

The Maid Hand arc mostly as an excuse to put them in these outfits, and seemed like a thing that could be on Halloween.
